This Saturday I will be cycling from UBC to the top of the three North Shore mountains, Seymour, Grouse and Cypress, as part of the Triple Crown for Heart in support of the BC Children’s Heart Unit. All together the route is approximately 130 km with over 2,700 m of climbing. So, about the same distance as Vancouver to Hope, or Ottawa to Petawawa, and same climbing as doing 3 Grouse Grinds, or 4 CN tower climbs.
Needless to say, it’s a challenge.
But a challenge in support of a great cause, and one that I was able to appreciate first hand. In 2012 I met Colton Boechler, and his parents, Kelly and Julie. When Colton was six, a complication with the flu lead to a cardiac arrest. Thanks to the care provided by the BC Children’s Heart Unit, Colton was able to make a near-complete recovery. Colton is just one of many kids whose lives are saved by the work done be the BC Children’s Heart Unit.
Please consider making a charitable donation in support of my challenge and this important organization. Donations can be made here: triplecrownforheart.causevox.com/matt-lee. Donations of $20 or more will receive a charitable donation tax receipt at the end of the year.
Thanks!
